ONLINE SEARCH FOR NEW GUITAR HEROES
Posted Jun 20, 2008 12:33pm
The International Guitar Foundation (IGF) has teamed up with online guitar portal www.italkguitar.com in a search to find the next Newton Faulkner, John Williams, Eric Clapton or Joe Satriani.
IGF will be running their ‘Tommorow’s People’ stage for new guitar talent in London, Gateshead and Bath and for the first time aspiring guitarists can upload their videos and tracks at www.italkguitar.com to have the chance of performing at the live events and possibly land themselves a record deal in the process.
Specialist record company The Guitar Label which runs www.italkguitar.com is using the event to spot new talent to join its label whose other artists have included Martin Taylor, Steve Howe, Martin Simpson, Eric Roche and Albert Lee.
IGF has been running its emerging artists platform for the past 15 years but this is the first time it has worked with a Web 2.0 company to launch the careers of new guitarists. www.italkguitar.com is an online community featuring up to the minute news, blogs, social networking, chat, video on demand, lessons, music and advice on gear and playing from real guitarists.
Details on how to enter will be available in the coming weeks but in the meantime check out http://www.igf.org.uk
