Julian Bream O.B.E. (born July 15th, 1933) is an internationally celebrated British guitarist and lutenist, widely recognized as one of the most important classical guitarists of the 20th century. He has also been successful in renewing popular interest in the Renaissance lute.

Rightly described as virtuosic, Bream's playing is extremely expressive and he has had pieces dedicated to him by such composing luminaries as Malcolm Arnold and Benjamin Britten, Britten's 'Nocturnal' being one of the most famous pieces ever written for classical guitar, with Bream specifically in mind, making him one of the foremost ambassadors for classical guitar.
