James Patrick Page is an English guitarist, composer and record producer. He began his career as a studio session guitarist in London and was subsequently a member of The Yardbirds from 1966 to 1968, when he co-founded Led Zeppelin.

Credited with 'inventing heavy metal' but in fact a far more accomplished player than to be pigeon-holed in such a narrow genre, his work with Zeppelin effortlessly fused blues and, of all things, British acoustic folk music into a mighty, all-encompassing rock sound. Last year's meltdown of a ticket website for their one-off charity show at London's 02 Arena was indeed proof positive of his - and their - enduring appeal.
