David Gilmour
Bio
David Jon Gilmour CBE (born March 6, 1946) is an English musician best known as the lead guitarist, primary singer, and one of the main songwriters (with Roger Waters) in the band Pink Floyd. In addition to his work with Pink Floyd, Gilmour has also worked as a record producer for a variety of famous artists. Gilmour has been actively involved with many charity organisations over the course of his career. In 2003, he was appointed CBE for services to music.
Best known for his work with Pink Floyd and beautiful, lyrical solos on such songs as Wish You Were Here and Comfortably Numb, nevertheless Daivd Gilmour has worked with a great many other notable artists, such as Kate Bush, Elton John, Paul McCartney and The Who. Few other guitarists in the world seem to have such fanatical fans of one guitar, either - his famed 'black strat' being the subject of a fine coffee table book - the perfect stocking filler for the Gilmour fan in your life!
