Brian May
Bio
Brian Harold May is an English musician and astrophysicist, most widely known as the lead guitarist in the rock band, Queen. He was ranked as the 39th greatest guitarist of all time by Rolling Stone magazine. He is currently appointed as the Chancellor of Liverpool's John Moore's university.
May has, for most of his career, come up with all those amazing sounds on a guitar he built himself - affectionately known as the Red Special - from bits lying around his house. Throughout his career, his trademark fluid lead lines and use of multi-layered, harmonised guitar parts, coupled with several roaring Vox AC30 amps, have made his playing style one of the most instantly-recognisable in rock music, while his acoustic playing is equally as adept and tasteful. Sometimes overshadowed by the massive charisma of Queen's frontman, Freddie Mercury, May's playing nevertheless held a pivotal role in their success.
